Can the elf stay in the family home all year round? The scout elves have to return to the North Pole at the end of the festive season to prepare for next year's Christmas! While they're away, the elves share stories with their colleagues, undergo flight training and help Santa and Mother Christmas. Santa sometimes grants elves permission to return to their families for special occasions during the year. According to tradition, a Scout elf loses his magic if touched by human hands. Moving a box with the elf in it is okay; however, once the elf has been adopted and given a name, it must not be touched.
