General
The Katadyn Carbodyn element is a high-performance activated carbon filter that adsorbs free chlorine and other organic
contaminants that contribute to bad taste and odor or may be unhealthy. An efficient 10 micron sediment filter retains
suspended solids. In addition, the level of lead and other heavy metals is reduced. The carbon filter is protected by foodgrade plastic caps

Technical details
- Safety
To avoid any bacterial contamination after the removal of chlorine and lead, the Carbodyn is normally only used in
combination with a Katadyn 0.2 micron ceramic filter element (e.g. Ceradyn). - Application
The activated carbon element is suited for filters for domestic point-of-use applications in combination with a Katadyn
ceramic element. - Function
High-performance activated carbon block.

Depends on the filter system in which the element is installed. - Performance
More than 90% chlorine reduction for at least 10,000 liters (2,600 U.S. gallons). This number is based on a test with a
flow rate of 3 l/min (0.75 gpm) and 20° C, containing 2 ppm of free chlorine.

The Carbodyn’s lifetime is determined by the demand for chlorine adsorption and lead reduction. The service life depends
on the quality of the water. Turbid water may clog the filter before the chemical capacity is reached. Replacement of the
Carbodyn element after 12 months. Filters up to 16,000 liters (4,200 U.S. gallons) of water.
