General
The Strapcap - perhaps the most recognizable design from KAVU, this was the hat that started it all. Originally conceived by our founder Barry Barr in 1991, it was created after Barry lost too many caps at sea due to them blowing off his head while working as a commercial fisherman. Barry took matters into his own hands and combined sturdy fabric with a strip of nylon webbing to create a functional hat that would stay securely on his head. Over 30 years later, it has become a true outdoor classic, beloved by everyone from fishermen to rock climbers - still made the same way, in the same factory, by the same family as all those years ago. The original and the best.
