Op haar achtentwintigste besloot sterrenchef en recherchepsycholoog Tamar Valkenier afstand te doen van al haar bezittingen en haar veilige leven. Ze koos voor het avontuur. Twee jaar lang fietste ze de wereld rond. Eerst in het 'veilige' Europa en daarna almaar verder. Ze reisde vier maanden door Mongolië met haar paard, kameel en hond en liep 600 kilometer door Jordanië.
Met Miriam Lancewood, bekend van Mijn leven in de wildernis, doorkruiste Tamar het hooggebergte van Nieuw-Zeeland, terwijl ze leefden als jagers-verzamelaars. Ze werden daar opgezocht door Floortje Dessing voor haar tv-programma Floortje naar het einde van de wereld. Tamar Valkenier blijft op zoek naar nieuwe avonturen. In 'Fulltime avonturier' doet ze verslag van haar vrije leven.
