You can access your water bottle, camera or a protein bar without having to take off the pack in the side stretch pockets. The backpack also performs well on alpine tours – you can attach an ice axe or trekking poles to the gear loop and your crampons to the daisy chain. Two compression straps on each side and one under the lid compress the load and there's a replacement buckle on the upper strap if you ever need one along the way.
