It’s going to be hot this summer. That’s why a large assortment (literally and figuratively) of T-shirts is a must. It’s best to dress in lightweight fabrics like linen or, oddly enough, wool. Because naturally, you like to stay cool during all your summer adventures; from hiking to canoeing in your own country, this summer will be an ode to the simple life.

A trip to Gran Canaria isn’t complete without a visit to Santa Lucía. This historic town is surrounded by rugged mountainous country, including a fortress with carved-out living caves and tombs. The church of Santa Lucía, in honour of the saint of the same name, is in the central square. This church isn’t without a shady past; it was demolished twice in the past. But as the saying goes, the third time’s the charm!

Trivia:

Did you know that you will find a beautifully landscaped garden around the fort (which is now a museum)? There are many native plants and fruit trees for you to admire here.
