General
Praag wordt omringd door de regio Bohemen, dat tweederde van de Tsjechische Republiek beslaat. Het is een aantrekkelijk gebied met heuvellandschap in het noorden, zuiden en westen, waar vele kastelen getuigen van een omstreden verleden. Steden en stadjes ademen die typisch Midden-Europese sfeer met romantische marktpleinen, kloosters en pastelkleurige huizen. In het midden van de regio ligt een glooiend gebied dat doorsneden wordt door de rivieren Vltava (Moldau), Labe (Elbe) en Ohre. Veel bezienswaardigheden zijn vanuit Praag in een dag te bezoeken. Auteur: Albert Gielen woont sinds 2006 in Praag. Hij publiceert regelmatig over Praag en Tsjechië en is actief als gids. Bij Odyssee Reisgidsen verscheen ook van zijn hand de gidsen ‘Moravië’ en ‘De mooiste tramroute van Praag’.
