Built with alpine know-how, this sophisticated City Storm Rain Parka has a durable 3-layer, 100% recycled nylon GORE-TEX shell fabric for waterproof/breathable storm performance throughout the full range of conditions. We add a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to further enhance water and snow resistance and increase durability. Designed for summer downpours or winter squalls, the adjustable hood accommodates a hat or cinches down tight for a streamlined fit in a blower wind; it’s also removable when you prefer to travel with the clean silhouette of a hoodless design. The two-way center-front zipper has a covered placket for additional wind and rain protection, adjustable cuffs seal out cold air and the laydown collar feels soft and comfortable on skin. Pockets include two front handwarmers and one interior security chest pocket that doubles as a stuffsack. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn, which means the people who made it earned a premium for their labor.

Washing waterproof garments
Always review the jacket labels before washing for specific washing instructions. We recommend that you wash your waterproof jacket with a technical detergent on a regular basis. This prevents damage to the waterproof layer. Rise it out well so that there are no soap residues. Never use fabric softener.
Impregnating waterproof garments
When you impregnate your jacket, it is a good idea to put it in the dryer after washing it. This reactivates the water repellent layer on the outside. After several washes, the outside of your garment will absorb moisture. The jacket will become heavy and feel cold and clammy. When that happens, it is time to impregnate the jacket. Use a product made for the washing machine or choose a spray.
